Senior portraits are a rite of passage. They signify growth, individuality, achievement, and hope. No two seniors experience their final years of grade school the same, and every senior portrait session is a unique expression of that experience and the identity culminating from it.
Honoring our graduating seniors with an engaging portrait session where they're encouraged to be true to themselves is one of the most enjoyable aspects of our career. Through the lens, we get to watch as the youths of our community open up throughout their senior portrait session, and the process is a symbol of this transitionary phase of their lives.
As we've developed our photographic talents, we've learned a few things that help achieve the best results. We approach every session with the understanding that everyone is different and those differences matter. To make great portraits, we seek to understand the person in front of the camera.
There's a back and forth, a metaphorical give and take in every session, and in the best of sessions, there comes a moment where everything becomes clear. The person in front of the camera reveals who they are. That's when the magic happens. The give and take process becomes free-flowing, and the images from this part of the session invariably become instant favorites.
It's our job as photographers to get to this moment as quickly and efficiently as possible, and to that end, we always have a few questions to help our graduates get started. If you're interested in learning more about how we would approach your session, contact us to start a conversation today.
